Material Handler

Job Purpose

Performs the physical or administrative tasks involved in the moving of manufacturing goods from one location to the next.  The production materials may be raw materials or purchased goods.  Those goods must be moved to and from various production locations within and outside the department. When product is moved, good counts/records need to be documented.  The Material Handler will get supplies for each work station and keep them stocked as needed. This job may require the lifting of heavy items and also a forklift license.  

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities

1.  Locate material needed for each job.

2.  Remove material from completed jobs.

3.  Issue and return material as instructed.

4.  Supply material to all jobs as assigned.

5.  May unload incoming material and store in proper place, for consumption within the department.

6.  Obtain cycle counts.

7.  Practice safe working habits.

8.  Periodically check for unsafe conditions and correct as needed.

9.  Additional duties as assigned.

10. Basic math skills a must

11. Basic computer skills preferred

Secondary Responsibilities

1.  Clean and organize work area.

2.  Keep all equipment in good repair.

3.  Other work as assigned.

4.  Work with other departments as needed.

Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
