Job Description:

Quality Technician: Performs functions associated with quality control and quality assurance operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks and carrying out rework and quality assurance procedures related to production or operations. Uses sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate data to assist in assessing and documenting results of quality assurance and control processes. Determines and may assist in developing methods and procedures for quality assurance and control. Works with engineers in conducting experiments.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections to determine the quality of both metal components and electromechanical assemblies, visually and dimensionally, based upon internal and customer supplied workmanship standards and drawing specifications.
  • Perform dimensional inspection using a variety of tools, including CMM, calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, thread gauges, etc
  • Areas of inspection will include clean room, final assembly inspection, machining, sheet metal fabrication, paint and weld.
  • Perform receiving inspection on incoming purchased components and raw materials.
  • Determine and assist in developing methods and procedures for quality inspection and control.
  • Apply final labels or markings as required to demonstrate product acceptance.
  • Document and communicate any non-conformances identified during inspection activities.
  • Perform calibration audits and support internal calibration activities
  • Complete daily reports of inspection activities.
  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend and lift up to 50 lbs.

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or college courses.
  • Minimum of 5 years of quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with paint and weld inspection required.
  • Experience as a CMM operator a plus.
  • Must have knowledge of GD&T drawings consistent with the latest revisions of the ASME standards.
  • Experience reading and interpreting Bill of Materials (BOM), workmanship standards and customer engineering specifications
  • Experience with inspection equipment and measurement such as, but not limited to CMM, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, etc
  • Competent in word processing, spreadsheets, and data analysis.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be flexible in regards to overtime availability and work with minimal supervision.
