Summary

The Production Planner is responsible for the daily scheduling and release of production orders within the ERP system to ensure timely manufacturing and delivery of products. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of master data and supporting efficient production operations through effective planning and cross-functional collaboration.

Job Duties and Responsibilities 

Other tasks and duties may be required as directed.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date Item Masters, Bills of Material (BOMs), and Routers/Travelers within the Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP system.

Leverage existing Microsoft Access database to manage and track requested changes, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained and documented.

Review and convert planned orders into production orders based on capacity constraints, material availability and customer demand.

Generate, maintain, and communicate work center schedules, including updates and revisions as needed.

Monitor and adjust production order timelines to align with operational goals and delivery commitments.

Develop and maintain master data parameters, including lot sizes, lead times, scrap rates, and safety stocks.

Create and manage production order splits to optimize workflow and improve efficiency.

Oversee the product purge process, ensuring risks are identified, mitigated, and quarantined appropriately.

Prioritize orders at work centers to support production flow and minimize delays.

Identify and mitigate risks to the production schedule and overall plan.

Assist in investigating root causes of material shortages and production delays; implement corrective and preventive actions.

Expedite resolution of in-process rejections to reduce impact on customer deliveries.

Document standard operating procedures and work instructions.

Actively participate in continuous improvement and safety initiatives.

Qualification Requirements

Education/Experience

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

One to two years of related experience and/or training

Language Skills

Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write in simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.

Math Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Skills

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer/ Office Skills

Basic windows/internet browser

ERP/Inventory

Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLookup, Pivot Tables)

Typing

10-Key

Familiarity with blueprint reading and interpretation

Basic knowledge of raw material types and specifications

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Demands 

Frequent Activities: Standing, sitting, walking, typing, handling objects, talking/hearing

Occasional activities: Lifting/pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs, 

Rare activities: Climbing/balancing, lifting/pushing/pulling heavy weights (50+ lbs), stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling.

Vision Requirements

Frequent: Close vision, distance vision, color vision, computer monitor use

Rare: Depth perception, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

Frequent exposure: Mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals and airborne particles, and moderate-to-loud noise.

Occasional exposure: Quiet-to-very loud noise.

Rare exposure: High places, outdoor weather, electrical shock, vibrations, and very quiet-to-quiet noise levels.
